The story
Kayla insists her stepbrother Cole has no chance with her, until a car ride, a sink full of dishes and a night out change her mind, and a neighbor wants to join.
Our take
This is a slow turn told in small steps: a car ride, the dishes, a night out, each one moving Kayla a little further from her opening insults. The pleasure is in watching the resistance wear down, and the neighbor who arrives late changes the shape of the story from a couple to a trio.
Because the turn is gradual, the free episodes show the setup more than the payoff. If you enjoy the banter in the opener, the paid stretch is where it lands; if you want things to start at full speed, other stepsister series get there sooner.
