Candy AI Shorts Episode 3: How Unlocking Works, With the Token Math

Tokens

From episode 3 on, every Candy AI Shorts episode is unlocked with tokens: 12 per episode on most series, 30 on series built on a real performer. A Premium month includes 100 tokens, enough for 8 standard episodes or 3 performer episodes.

Where the free run stops

Every public series on Candy AI Shorts opens the same way. Episode 1 opens without any account, episode 2 opens once you register a free account, no payment card asked, and from episode 3 each episode is paid in tokens. So whatever series you start, the question of tokens arrives at the same point: episode 3.

There is no separate price per series and no bundle per show. Each paid episode has its own token price, shown on the episode list of every series page here, and you unlock episodes one at a time.

Two prices, decided by who is in it

Paid episodes come at two prices. Series with an invented Candy AI cast cost 12 tokens per episode. Series fronted by the digital twin of a real performer cost 30. Right now 166 series with a visible episode list sit at the lower price and 15 at the higher one.

Quick check: the token price appears on every series tile in this guide, next to the episode count. Performer series also show the performer’s name.

What it costs to finish a series

Because most series are short, the full cost is easy to predict. The table counts every series with a visible episode list, grouped by length, with the paid episodes and the tokens needed to reach the end at each price.

A standard five-episode series is the cheapest full run in the catalogue. The long series are a different budget: check the longest series before starting one of them.

How far one Premium month goes

Premium includes 100 tokens a month. On standard series that unlocks 8 paid episodes; on performer series, 3. Put another way, a month covers the paid part of a couple of standard five-episode series, or one performer series with tokens left over.

  • Paid part of a standard five-episode series: three episodes at 12 tokens each.
  • Paid part of a performer five-episode series: three episodes at 30 tokens each.

Plan prices start at $3.99 a month on the 12-month plan; the Premium guide sets the three plans side by side.

Unlocking, in practice

  1. Open a series on candy.ai and watch what is open to you: episode 1 without an account, episode 2 after a free sign-up.
  2. The first episode that carries a token price is where the paid run starts.
  3. With Premium active, the monthly tokens are what pays for those episodes.

Which series are worth the tokens

The free episodes exist so you can judge the tone before spending anything, and on a five-episode series they are almost half the story. If the opening did not land, the rest will not change direction much. If it did, the paid stretch is short. Series built on real performers cost more per episode, so the free run is the best test before paying the higher price.

Standard series versus performer series

The price gap matters more than it first seems. On a standard five-episode series, the paid part costs three times 12 tokens. On a performer series of the same length, it costs three times 30. One Premium month therefore finishes a couple of standard series but only one performer series, with tokens left over. If you mainly want the digital twin series, plan for that difference; if you mostly watch invented casts, the monthly allowance stretches further.

Long series and token budgets

A handful of series run far past five episodes, up to 35. Their free opening is the same as everywhere else, episode 1 without an account, episode 2 after a free sign-up, but the paid stretch is much longer, and finishing one takes the token allowance of several Premium months. These are proper serials, so it is worth reading the review and the episode list on the series page before starting. The longest series ranking lists the token cost of each one.

Members-only series

Series on the members-only shelf do not show their episode list to signed-out visitors, so their paid episodes and prices are not public. Once you sign in with a free account they appear like any other series, and the same two prices apply.

Common mistakes

  • Paying before watching the free episodes. The opening is free on every public series. Use it.
  • Starting a long series on a single month. Check the token total on the series page first.
  • Looking for the paid episodes elsewhere. Episodes play on candy.ai only. Pages offering them for free elsewhere are not connected to Candy AI.

A worked example

Take a standard five-episode series. Episodes 1 and 2 are the free run: episode 1 without an account, episode 2 after a free sign-up. Episodes 3, 4 and 5 are paid, at 12 tokens each, so the paid part costs three times that. With a fresh Premium month of 100 tokens, that leaves enough for the paid part of a second standard series, and a few tokens over.

Now take a performer series of the same length. The free run is identical, but each paid episode costs 30 tokens. The paid part of one performer series uses most of a month on its own. That is the trade-off of the digital twin series: more recognizable faces, a higher price per episode.

Reading the episode list on a series page

Every series page here carries the full episode list with one label per episode:

  • No account needed: plays for anyone.
  • Free sign-up: free, but needs a free account.
  • A token price: the episode is paid; the number is what it costs.

The labels come from the same weekly capture as the rest of the page, so they follow Candy AI if it changes the rule.

Picking what to spend tokens on

Because tokens are limited each month, it pays to choose. Shorter series give a complete story for a small number of tokens. Long series give more story but take several months to finish. Performer series cost more per episode. The reviews on each series page say what the paid stretch adds to the free opening, which is the question that matters before spending anything.

Why episode 3 is where it gets interesting

Most series are built in three movements: a setup, a turn and a payoff. On a five-episode series, the free run covers the setup and the start of the turn, which is exactly why the paid episodes begin where the story starts to deliver on its premise. That is by design: the free part shows you the characters and the situation, and the paid part is where the situation plays out.

That also means the free episodes are a reliable test. If the setup did not hold your attention, the payoff is unlikely to change your mind. If it did, three paid episodes are a short and predictable commitment.

Tokens and the free account

A free account does not include tokens: it unlocks the rest of the free run, episode 2, and nothing more. Tokens come with a Premium plan, 100 each month. Without Premium, every series stops at episode 3.

Unlocking on long series, month by month

For the long series the monthly allowance becomes a schedule. A series with many paid episodes at 12 tokens each uses one month of tokens every 8 episodes. Some viewers like that rhythm: a few episodes a month, like a weekly show. Others prefer to finish a short series in one sitting. Both work; the difference is only how long you keep Premium.

What does not cost tokens

  • Browsing the catalogue, the covers and the labels.
  • The free run of every public series: episode 1 without an account, episode 2 after a free sign-up.
  • Reading series pages, reviews and episode lists here.

A simple plan for your first Premium month

  1. Watch the free episodes of three or four series that interest you.
  2. Pick the ones whose opening you liked most.
  3. Add up their paid parts with the episode lists on their pages.
  4. Keep the total within 100 tokens, or plan a second month for a long series.

The free rule has moved before

The point where tokens start has not always been the same. In October 2026 Candy AI changed its free rule twice: for a few days the first two episodes opened without any account, and then the second episode went back to needing a free account. The paid part started at episode 3 throughout, but the way into it changed. That history is why this page reads the rule from the latest weekly capture instead of stating it from memory: today it is episode 1 without an account, episode 2 after a free sign-up.

From free to finished, step by step

Here is the whole path for a typical public series, in the order you meet it:

  1. Browse. Pick a series here or on candy.ai by its cover, its labels and its episode count.
  2. Watch the opening. Episode 1 opens without an account.
  3. Sign up for free. Episode 2 opens after registration, with no card.
  4. Decide. If you want the rest, compare its token total on its page here with your Premium allowance.
  5. Unlock. With Premium, use tokens on the paid episodes from episode 3.

Every step before the fifth is free, which is why it is worth taking the first four slowly.

Reading the token table above

The table groups every series with a visible episode list by length. For each length it shows how many series run that long, how many of their episodes are paid and the tokens needed to reach the end at each price. Two things stand out. First, the five-episode format dominates, so the cost of most series is the same small number. Second, the few long series are where the token totals climb, and those are the ones to check one by one.

Tokens and performer series

Performer series are where the price per episode is highest, so they deserve the most care. Each performer has a page here listing their series, the episodes visible without an account and the token price. If you follow one performer in particular, start from that page: it tells you how many series there are and which ones sit on the members-only shelf.

When a series grows

Some series gain episodes after release. When that happens, the new episodes are added to the end of the episode list, and the weekly check updates the count and the token total on the series page. If you already unlocked the earlier paid episodes, only the new ones are left to open.

Episode states, explained once

  • No account needed: the episode plays for everyone, including visitors who never signed up.
  • Free sign-up: the episode costs nothing but needs a free candy.ai account.
  • In Premium: a zero-token episode beyond the free run, included for Premium members.
  • A token price: the episode is paid and the number is its cost in tokens.

Why this site shows the price before you start

Here every series page shows the full episode list in advance, with the token total to finish. That makes it possible to compare series before spending anything, which is the whole point of a guide like this one.
